It started with a midterm.
The idea for Lectur was born when three university friends built an adaptive quiz app to help them study for their engineering midterm.
Building the app helped us prepare for our midterm in a more targeted way. It also got us thinking about how technology could help students learn and where the existing approach was falling short.
Recognizing a need for change.
As we saw how technology was changing education, three things stood out.
AI is eroding learning.
Students are using AI for shortcuts, bypassing the actual learning process, and in some cases outright cheating. Instead of developing critical thinking, problem solving, and real understanding, they are relying on fast answers and outputs. The result is that work may look stronger on the surface, but the actual learning underneath is weaker.
Personalized learning is hard to deliver.
Teachers are working incredibly hard, but the reality is that classrooms are complex and every student learns differently. Learning styles, pace, strengths, and areas of support vary from student to student, yet traditional systems make true personalization difficult to deliver consistently.
Too many disconnected systems.
Schools today are managing learning across too many disconnected systems, platforms, and tools. This creates inefficiency, duplication, and frustration.
Seeing what's possible.
What if technology could do more than help students find answers?
What if it could help them truly understand, practice, and master what they were learning?
We saw an opportunity to rethink the learning experience: to make learning more engaging, personalized, and effective, and to ensure AI supports learning rather than replaces it. That meant using technology to deepen understanding, helping educators better support every student, and bringing the tools that make learning happen together in one place.
From study tool to learning platform.
Drawing on our engineering backgrounds, software development industry expertise, and award-winning projects in coding competitions, we set out to build something bigger than the study tool we first created for ourselves.
Lectur has evolved into an integrated learning platform for schools and tutoring organizations, bringing together in one place:
- Course materials
- Practice
- Assignments
- Grades
- Student insights
- Responsible AI
Our vision
A new age of learning where technology unlocks every student's potential.
Our mission
To empower schools and tutoring organizations to deliver deeper learning through one integrated platform that makes learning more effective, engaging, and adaptive.
